Tailgates are over and I missed a big buck today...
Well our tailgating season came to an end yesterday with the Illini's final home game. No other trips are planned unless we get a ticket to the Iron Bowl in a couple of weeks. Yea, depression is kind of setting in knowing that the season we wait all year for is coming to the end. We had a great time this fall being with family and friends all over Big 10 country. We started in August in Iowa City and hit Ann Arbor on the way to the finale in Champaign. My personal favorite was the Iowa/Illinois game; the last tailgate we will have while our youngest is still in school at Iowa. The Illini and Hawkeyes don't do battle again until 2011. If she is still in school at Iowa then,I will be broke beyond imagination no matter what tax breaks Obama may give for college tuition.
Missed a nice 10 pointer around noon today which is just the icing on the cake. Just stood there helplessly as the arrow flew over his back and he and his lady friends put up their white flags and headed to greener pastures...not been a good weekend for me personally. Illini continue to turn the ball over and I miss a 40 yard shot on the best buck I would have ever taken. My guess, he was an easy 150 class rack and maybe crack 160. Ouch...To top it off my high school alma mater got beat in the state playoff quarterfinals, UUUGGGGHHHHH.
Bama, USC and ND all got revenge for their unexpected losses to this weekends foes last season. Big weekend coming up which may, again I say MAY, make the national title picture a little clearer. Biggest game will be in Norman, Oklahoma; we think the Sooners will be more than ready for MIke Leach and the Texas Tech Red Raiders...
Looking at next year's schedules to see when we may be able to make it to SEC country for a game. Ole MIss is not too far and the Grove is one sweet place to be on a fall football Saturday. Our friend Ian at Cal wants us to come to the left coast to see the USC game in 2009. Which all brings a little smile to my otherwise depressed mind this "blue" Sunday evening...
